Our Initiatives

1.Introduction of Core Banking Solution

Core Banking Solution (CBS) is networking of branches, which enables Customers to operate their accounts, and avail banking services from any branch of the Bank on CBS network, regardless of where he maintains his account. The customer is no more the customer of a Branch. He becomes the Bank's Customer. The Banking operation of the West Bengal State Cooperative Bank has been switched over to the CBS system . All 43 branches of The West Bengal State Cooperative Bank has been brought under CBS.  Besides 14 Central Cooperative Banks in West Bengal working as sub-member  has also been brought under CBS. The bank has many ATMs in Kolkata and also in North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas and Coochbehar. ATM service in rural , semi-urban and urban areas in other districts of  West Bengal is being provided by the District Central Cooperative Banks of that District.

2.Internet Connection to all branches of the bank.

Internet is a means of connecting a computer to any other computer anywhere in the world via dedicated routers and servers. When two computers are connected over the Internet, they can send and receive all kinds of information such as text, graphics, voice, video, and computer programs. With assistance from the BSNL internet connection has been made to all 43 branches of the bank. This has helped a lot in improvement of communication with the branches. The branch managers can also now easily access the knowledge stores of internet and disseminate latest information to the customer.

3.Introduction of  POS

The point of sale (POS) or point of purchase (POP) is the time and place where a retail transaction is completed. It is the point at which a customer makes a payment to the merchant in exchange for goods or after provision of a service. At the point of sale, the merchant would prepare an invoice for the customer (which may be a cash register printout) or otherwise calculate the amount owed by the customer and provide options for the customer to make payment. After receiving payment, the merchant will also normally issue a receipt for the transaction. Usually the receipt is printed, but it is increasingly being dispensed electronically.
Since introduction of  RuPay Debit card  our  clients were allowed only to withdraw cash from the ATMs. We discussed the matter with our CBS service provider and  made our Rupay Debit card POS enabled. All customers of our bank can now purchase merchandise from shop using the RuPay Debit card.

4.Introduction of  RupayKCC card for the farmers

Since inception Crop loan is being provided to the farmer-members of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) by our Bank through a manual Conventional method.  For a long time the bank had been contemplating about introduction of debit card in farm loan delivery system. The technology involved in roping in the loan delivery system of PACS into the Core Banking Solution (CBS) of the bank is very complicated. This bank deliberated the matter with member –central Cooperative Bank and CBS service provider at length and decided to introduce RuPayKCC in some societies on pilot basis. The software has been developed and tested successfully at the PACS level. The farmers will  now be able to  get loan  using  RuPayKCC card. 

 

 5.     New Website of the Bank Launched

 

In this day of Information technology people want information on internet.  People from all walks of life like to visit the website of a Bank to know about the service being provided by it to the customer. In the banking business information is critical. The area of operation of The West Bengal State Cooperative Bank extends from the Cosmopolitan city to the remote rural areas of the State. Today rural people like their urban counterpart use internet either on their PC, Laptop or mobile. Website of the bank will bring information about the latest services/ activities of the bank concerning rural farmers as well as urban people. Many will be more likely to visit the website, rather than driving a car to the physical location of the bank and browsing for Bank’s products. From a customer’s point of view, it’s better for them if they don’t have to ask anything. They can just find what they’re looking for on the online site.

          There is a three tier cooperative structure in West Bengal. It is of utmost importance that information is promptly communicated to all entities in any tier of the structure so that all plans and programme are properly implemented.

With these ideas in view we have developed  our Website with new features and look.
